Laughing Gas is a collection of Marian Henley's Maxine!, a weekly comic strip in syndication since 1981. Maxine is a ponytailed pundit who, as one editor observed, "always has her mouth open." Maxine offers an opinion on everything that matters most: love, religion, politics, philosophy, and of course, bad hair.
Marian Henley's Maxine! appears in Funny Times, Comic Relief, Austin Chronicle, and other newspapers and magazines. Maxine has appeared on MTV, in a national Quaker Oat TV commercial, Glamour, New Age Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, LA Weekly, and other publications. Ms. Henley's first book, Maxine!, was published in 1987. She lives in Austin, Texas, with herds of deer and three cats who easily pass for decorative pillows.
